Management of Results from Other Countries

At Queensway Obstetrics & Gynecology we frequently welcome patients who have had part  of their pregnancy care in other cities, provinces, and countries.  Prenatal care, wherever you may be, is very important for the health of both mother and baby, and we fully support this. 

Yet, it is important patients understand that care in other jursdictions is often different from what we offer in Ontario.   

For instance, patients may have completed different blood tests  and  these may be reported in an unfamiliar manner or using different units.  Ultrasounds may be done more frequently than our standard of care dictates and results are often provided as images, rather than reports.  Those that do have written reports are often hand-written or in different languages.  Medications are often prescribed for reasons that are not clear  to us and we are unable to provide advice as to whether or not to continue them.  Altogether, many patients arrive with dozens of pages of results that are very difficult to integrate into routine pregnancy care.   

As such, although we may make limited attempts to review externally generated results, Queensway Obstetrics  & Gynecology, and the physicians and staff working there, cannot guarantee complete  and accurate integration of results and treatments generated from external jurisdictions.
